November Impact

First Trust (and all our employees, including at our affiliate companies), has a long tradition dating back to 2004 of helping others during the Thanksgiving (and Christmas) holidays.

For over a decade the firm collected donations to purchase turkeys for people in need in DuPage County and around Chicagoland. We expanded a few years ago to also create full Thanksgiving baskets containing everything a Thanksgiving meal would need, including a gift card to purchase a turkey. Each year we grow our donations. In 2017, we gave:

  • 60 frozen turkeys to Milton Township, which serves people in need in 9 towns around Wheaton

  • 17 Thanksgiving baskets to Jubilee Village, a transitional housing program for single, formerly homeless mothers in Wheaton

  • 4 Thanksgiving baskets to Tri-City Family Services, which provides quality, affordable services for youth crisis intervention and early intervention to create sound mental health and effective family functioning for those in need

  • 4 Thanksgiving baskets to Senior Home Sharing, which offers seniors with limited incomes a residential housing option

  • 18 Thanksgiving baskets to Wayne Township, which provides food and clothing to those in need in 6 towns including St. Charles, West Chicago and Bartlett.

  • 1 basket to Random Acts Matters, which does acts of compassion and care to individuals who are referred by the community

  • 94 gift cards to DuPage Pads to help its families in supportive housing buy turkeys

  • 37 Thanksgiving baskets were made by our Austin office for Saint Louise House, which provides affordable and supportive housing for low-income, homeless women and their children

in November, as we always have, we celebrate and give thanks for the many privileges we enjoy at this firm and in our nation, and we seek to put our thankfulness into action by bringing hope and dignity to those in need.
