At times like this, Americans do what we have always done best: we pull together to ensure that we stand against any threat. We take care of each other. We look outside ourselves and try to help others---including people we don’t know and never will.
The Foundation prays for our company’s employees to weather this storm. We pray for the United States. And we pray for the world. Together, we can get through this AND make a difference for others. The Foundation has donated to each to the following organizations which are at the forefront of helping those in need, in various capacities, through this crisis:
Providing personal protective equipment and essential medical items, including masks, exam gloves and isolation gowns. The organization is operating in the U.S. and globally.
With all of its shelters closed because of the virus, Pads is working to find refuge for homeless men, women and families who use the overnight shelter system every night.
The Emergency Team is working on preparedness and prevention by educating the public to help limit the outbreak, as well as sourcing personal protective equipment to get to healthcare workers most at risk.
Has committed to provide approximately 2 million pounds of relief supplies to those hit hard in the U.S. (the organization is concentrating on helping those who can’t work from home and who are having trouble feeding their kids if they’re not in school).
Knowing food insecurity is likely to increase, NIFB is taking steps to allow it to stay open so it can continue to get food to those most in need.
Also closely monitoring the situation and working to keep its staff safe and healthy so it can continue to get food to those most in need.
Working to provide services to veterans remotely as well as in their dedicated veteran homes.
Continues to provide affordable housing and a supportive community for men and women to lift them off the streets.
Providing emergency food and care boxes to at-risk youth in Chicago’s most challenging neighborhoods.
Empowering local Meals on Wheels programs across the country to deliver the hot meals to housebound seniors.
